This past weekend, our 12U Thunder team showed incredible determination and heart at the 20th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament in Edinburgh, Indiana. The team went in with a goal of winning just one game but exceeded all expectations by coming away with four wins and securing an impressive 3rd place finish. Leah, Tori, and Erin delivered clutch hits, with Leah smashing two triples in a single game! Harper also came up big in a critical moment against Magic, driving in two runs with a perfect line drive to tie the game and send us into extra innings. Elyse’s walk-off single sealed our thrilling victory over Magic, giving us a well-earned win after two tough losses to them earlier in the weekend.

Saturday was a special day for the team as they wore pink to honor breast cancer awareness and played in tribute to Harper’s grandma, a breast cancer survivor. The girls played with passion and pride, not just for themselves, but for the cause they were representing. Harper, playing catcher for seven full games, was a defensive powerhouse, racking up an incredible 49 total putouts! On the mound, Nan and Elyse were unstoppable, each recording 24 strikeouts across the 8 games, showcasing their pitching strength and resilience.

Throughout the weekend, every single player contributed in meaningful ways, with countless amazing plays that can’t all be listed here. This tournament not only demonstrated our team’s growing skills, but also their heart and unity. We are proud to have competed and worn pink in support of an important cause, all while battling through a challenging and rewarding tournament.
