16U Thunder Shows Resilience at USSSA Howl at the Moon
This past weekend, our 16U Thunder team participated in the “USSSA Howl at the Moon” tournament in Indianapolis. After a challenging start to the season, the team broke out of a hitting slump and celebrated their first win of the year. The girls showed great teamwork and determination, giving us a glimpse of the exciting potential they have going forward.
Lydia Camp led the charge offensively, batting .429 for the tournament, including a triple and a double. Addie Yocum was also a standout, finishing with a .400 batting average and an impressive .571 on-base percentage. Special thanks go to our subs, Layla and Tinsley, who played crucial roles both in the batting lineup and in pitching, giving the team the boost they needed.
After a tough loss early on, the team regrouped and fought back hard, winning their first round game of bracket play. This weekend really highlighted the girls’ resilience and mental toughness, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds! Keep it up, Thunder! (Photo credits to Jill Hall)
