Thunder 12U Shines at The Gobbler Tournament in Lafayette
This past weekend, our 12U Thunder team achieved a huge milestone, taking 2nd place at The Gobbler tournament in Lafayette! 🥈 It all came down to an electrifying final inning, with the game tied 4-4. Though we narrowly lost in the bottom of the last inning by one run, the girls left it all on the field, delivering their best performance of the season.
Not only did the team walk away with our first-ever hardware, but they also demonstrated grit, growth, and teamwork throughout the tournament. A standout performance came from Nan Welsh, who was a force on the mound, pitching 13 innings with 27 strikeouts. She allowed only one walk the entire weekend while stranding eight runners on base—a testament to her precision and composure under pressure.
The bats were alive as well! Elyse Ralstin led the way at the plate, racking up 7 hits, 4 runs, and 6 RBIs. A special shoutout goes to Mia Harris, who got her first hit of the season—a crucial beauty that brought in two runners to help secure a win. Moments like these highlight the growth of every player on this team and the bright future ahead for Thunder 12U.
Congratulations to the girls and coaches for this incredible weekend, and thank you to all the families and fans who came out to support us. This is just the beginning for our team, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next! 💙🥎
